Banana Stand Redux

A kraut so nice I made it twice!  Banana Stand was such a big hit the first time that it sold out by the time I was done jarring it (and I jar fast!).  So with an Oktoberfest party coming up at my house I decided to bring it back to delight the taste buds of even more Fridge Top Ferments fans!


Home grown, just like the rappers sing about!

For the redux version (look it up) I not only added more banana peppers, I also used local ingredients for everything but the salt and ginger!  Three heads of cabbage in the kraut were from my own garden, and the rest of the cabbage, banana peppers, and garlic came from the South Wedge Farmers Market.

Making Banana Stand the second time around was even a family affair!  My daughter Chloe helped harvest the cabbage with me, I chopped, shredded, and packed everything into the crock, and my wife sat back and watched Twilight movies.......looking back, I'm not sure how that helped.
